I love
movies! I’m not a fanatic who knows everything about every movie or anything
all that much about the actors in the movie. I don’t see every new release. Or
have too many opinions about the quality of the acting. I just love movies.
There’s something about sitting down to watch a movie with friends and snacks,
or heading out to a cinema to see a long anticipated movie, that still gives me
a feeling of excitement. Growing up the only movies I saw were movies that were
on TV, I never watched the Wizard of Oz. I’d watch the start, but found it too
frightening so I never made it past the black and white images to the colour!
It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I finally watched the Wizard of Oz
in full. And it is a great movie; a classic!
More than
just a play on words, this is my journey in search of The Wizard. Now I don’t
have a dog named Toto and there aren’t any witches in my story, or flying
monkeys (that I know of!) I don’t have a pair of ruby slippers and I’ve never
been to Munchkin Land. But like Dorothy, in the 1939 film, I’m headed towards
the Emerald City, home of The Wizard... The only difference is my Emerald City
is Heaven. And The Wizard is Jesus. My Yellow Brick Road is God’s call on my
life. Sometimes I deviated from the bright coloured track, but along the way
I’ve met some friends. They may not be Scarecrow, Tin Man or the Cowardly Lion,
but they’re in search of something just the same. I sometimes wish my life was
a musical, but apparently you can’t have everything!
My journey
along the Yellow Brick Road has led me to volunteer with NET Ministries on
the Sydney CYS NET Team in 2012, the St Fidelis Parish NET Team in 2013, and the Sydney CYS NET Team again in 2014. I wish to thank all who have supported me on my NET journey -
through prayer, financial sponsorship and in any other way. But now I've finished NET. That doesn't mean I wont share about my journey.
